Round 29 (Regular Season): No surprise as #1 Buducnost defeat FMP BG

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in ABA League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

ABA League top team - Montenegrin Buducnost (26-3) managed to deliver another win on Monday. This time they beat ninth ranked Serbian FMP BG (14-15) in Podgorica 78-69. Bosnian center Kenan Kamenjas (207-2000) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and American point guard McKinley Wright IV (182-1998, college: Colorado) chipped in 10 points and 6 assists. Buducnost's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Filip Barna (201-1999) responded with 18 points. Buducnost have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending Montenegrin champion maintains first place with 26-3 record. FMP BG at the other side keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Buducnost are looking forward to face Dubai (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. FMP BG's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beograd Crvena zvezda.
The game in Ljubljana was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Serbian Partizan (25-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Slovenian Cedevita Ol. (18-11). Partizan defeated Cedevita Ol. 81-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cedevita Ol.. American center Tyrique Jones (206-1997, college: Xavier, agency: Pensack Sports) nailed 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Sterling Brown accounted for 12 points. American-Jamaican Brynton Lemar (193-1995, college: UC Davis) came up with 17 points for Cedevita Ol. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Partizan maintains second place with 25-4 record behind leader Buducnost. Defending Slovenian champion Cedevita Ol. keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Partizan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beograd Mega BG.
The game in Aleksandrovac was also quite interesting. Third ranked UAE Dubai (24-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Bosnian Igokea (19-11). Dubai managed to secure a 9-point victory 97-88 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Igokea. The best player for the winners was Klemen Prepelic who scored 15 points and 7 assists. Bryce Jones produced 24 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Dubai. They maintain third place with 24-5 record having just two points less than leader Buducnost. Defending Bosnian champion Igokea keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Dubai will meet at home league's leader Buducnost in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Igokea will play against Mornar (#16) in Bar and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 29: Zadar lost to Spartak on the opponent's court 71-87. Borac managed to outperform Cibona in a home game 72-66. Derby recorded a loss to Mega BG on the road 83-81. Crvena zvezda defeated Krka on its own court 81-69. Bottom-ranked Mornar was beaten by Split in a road game 86-76.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 24 points and 7 rebounds by Lovre Runjic of Mornar.



Spartak - Zadar 87-71

Rather expected game in Subotica where 10th ranked Croatian Zadar (13-16) was defeated by seventh ranked Serbian Spartak (16-13) 87-71 on Monday. Spartak made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Luka Cerovina (201-2000) who scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Canadian point guard Kaza Kajami-Keane (185-1994, college: Carleton) chipped in 14 points. Spartak's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Karlo Zganec (206-1995, agency: PEPI SPORT) produced 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Tyler Wahl (206-2001, college: Wisconsin) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Spartak maintains seventh place with 16-13 record, which they share with Mega BG. Defending Croatian champion Zadar keeps the tenth position with 16 games lost. Spartak will meet Cibona (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zadar will play against Split (#13) and hope to secure a win.

Rather predictable result in Cacak where twelfth ranked Serbian Borac (10-19) defeated 15th ranked Croatian Cibona (4-25) 72-66 on Friday. The best player for the winners was Nikola Manojlovic (201-2002, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 9 points and 5 assists. Bosnian-Serbian forward Marko Josilo (200-1992) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Kresimir Radovcic (195-1997) produced 20 points and 6 assists and Croatian Domagoj Vukovic (208-1993, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 5 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Cibona's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Borac maintains twelfth place with 10-19 record. Cibona lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 25 games lost. Borac will meet higher ranked Derby (#11) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cibona will play against Spartak (#7) and hope to secure a win.

Not a big story in a game in Beograd where 11th ranked Montenegrin Derby (10-18) was edged by eighth ranked Serbian Mega BG (16-13) 83-81 on Monday. The best player for the winners was guard Mihailo Petrovic (190-2003) who scored 16 points and 7 assists. Croatian forward Andrija Jelavic (207-2004) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five Mega BG players scored in double figures. Guard Luka Bogavac (195-2003) produced 27 points and David Mirkovic (206-2006) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Derby's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Mega BG. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Spartak. Derby lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 18 games lost. Mega BG's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beograd to the arena Partizan.

Crvena zvezda looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was center Filip Petrusev (211-2000, college: Gonzaga) who scored 17 points. Lithuanian Rokas Giedraitis (200-1992) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Crvena zvezda players scored in double figures. American guard Tayler Persons (191-1995, college: Ball St., agency: Players Group) produced 2 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and the other American import guard Kendall Robinson (198-1998, college: W.Connecticut) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Split players scored in double figures. Croatian swingman Lovre Runjic (197-2000) produced 24 points and 7 rebounds and Croatian point guard Roko Rogic (187-1992) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Split maintains thirteenth place with 9-20 record. Mornar lost their fourth game in a row. They stay dead last with 28 lost games. Split will meet higher ranked Zadar (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mornar will play against Igokea (#5) and hope to secure a win.
